Shekel

 

This week Ofer Dahari was appointed CEO of shekel organisation, Ofer was incredible to me when I first entered shekel as a scared boy and not trusting anyone after I was abused in previous Hostels I had been at.

So its only fair that I dedicate this blog to Ofer and to shekel that changed my life and helped me get to where I need to be.

I came to shekel very hurt and angry I felt as I did not need to be in anyplace near any organisation and like previous places I was scared I would be abused and hurt , yet I met Ofer in the offices and was accepted shortly after to shekel , I tested the councillors contently and 1 day I called the police on a councillor who confiscated my laptop in order to make me go to bed on time , I was so angry at him.

Ofer sat me in his office and in the nicest possible way explained why they took my laptop and why it was wrong to call the police and I suddenly realised I was in a place that wanted to help and support me .

It was a long journey , over 10 years but shekel gave me the help and assistance and support that I so defiantly needed, I learnt good from bad and how to be independent and responsibilities in a work place and got to go and see incredible people and places .

I think shekel really took me to independence and to the fact that I can now live as married man , when I came to shekel I had temper tantrums , I had no idea on how to clean or responsibilities and shekel gave me that and more , but how? with 1 word "respect" shekel respected me and through that gained my respect back.

They encouraged me to follow my dreams, to take power but to always accept help, to provide for others but know there’s always someone who’s got your back.

A couple of years ago I brought a Dutch actor to tour shekel, his agent who was Israeli told me of a place in Jerusalem who helped her as a troubled kid as we got out the taxi she started crying , turned to me and said this was the place .

short Update

Reflection of a year to Blog

It has been just over a year since I started publishing my blog. I started writing a blog on the advice of Hillel Fuld in order to enhance my career and get more people informed about what I do. Unfortunately, as of yet, that hasn't happened, Hillel doesn't get everything right. But in a way, the blog has become a sanctuary for me to talk about my achievements, air my grievances, and let myself feel better in life. I think through the blog I have found clarity in myself on different aspects of my life, I have learned things about myself and what is necessary for me to change and I have learned skills I have that I never thought I needed or could utilise.  In sales, one must believe in the product to sell it. My country is at war

I had written my blog for August and September, they were going to go up very soon but I can't put up trivial things when my country is at war, when my people and friends have been kidnapped and murdered by terrorists calling themselves freedom fighters for Palestine.  Make no mistake Hamas is not Palestine and does not represent any faction of Palestine, they are a terrorist group that cause harm to the Palestinian cause. Any person that harms civilians for their own benefit is evil. Hamas, besides the atrocities they committed last week, use civilians as bait , not allowing them to get to safety and making sure their terrorist headquarters are in vulnerable areas such as childrens' schools and UN hospitals.  As a Zionist Israeli and a left wing activist, the horror on both sides is intense, I lost friends and colleagues; innocent people, civilians who wanted to live.
