Shop and Fly

I've just come back from the shops where I spent almost 100 pounds on groceries. It's a lot of money because prices have gone up but necessities must be brought. For me, the more I spend the better, as my Tesco points can be converted to air miles with Virgin Atlantic.

Whenever I shop, I first check if I can get air miles. Virgin has an incredible program where you can get a lot out of your shopping. If I book train tickets, I get miles. If I buy from eBay, I get miles. Buy at Boots, more air miles.

With the air miles, you get you can eventually 'buy' airline tickets and pay literally nothing for them. Recently I paid £150 for airline tax + 18,000 air miles for a return flight from London to Tel Aviv.

If I am anyhow shopping or travelling on trains, why not earn almost free flights?

The airline points system is incredible and I have been following several leaders in that field such as Gilbert Ott, the founder of 'God Save The Points', who I had the honour of meeting in person once, or Nicky Kelvin from ' The Points Guy', who I would love to collaborate with – so if anyone knows him, hook me up!

If one stays loyal to a company, it gives you status to get perks. For example, I have gold status on Virgin Atlantic and EL AL and am not far off from receiving frequent flyer status on Star Alliance. The perks of gold status give me priority check-in, lounge access at airports, extra suitcases, choosing my own seat for free and more.

And all because I went shopping! So rack up the points and let's hope we will meet aboard a flight

And if there are any airline PR reps here who want to invite me to review their product, just give me a buzz - I love aviation! One of my dreams is to fly first class, so especially if I can do that, it would be a dream come true.
