Back to School
My feed is full of back-to-school photos of my multiple contacts who are finally getting the break they have been praying for as their precious young ones go back to school.
Some of my friends’ kids (in the religious school system) have actually been back in school for a week already, as they start on the first day of the Hebrew month of Elul.
I used to start in Elul as well and it always disappointed me. Why? Because throughout the school year, the teachers would celebrate my classmates’ birthdays (on their Hebrew birthdates), but as my Hebrew birthdate was always the first day back at school, my birthday was never celebrated with the class!
My school years was very mixed. I was severely bullied and ostracised at school. I dreaded going to school nearly every day, knowing I’d probably be teased or hit by other students and the teachers would always ignore it. But on the other hand, I loved learning. I was a bookworm and school was a fountain of knowledge, information and learning.
Recently, I said to someone that if I could go back to school again, I would go back in a jiffy.
Yes, I would return to school in order to learn the important and valuable lessons that I never paid attention to such as English grammar and spelling. This blog is edited, I never would have thought that I would need proper spelling or grammar so much in life, but as a journalist, it is more than necessary.
My math skills are also bad and there many other subjects where I need to improve as well.
So kids, stay in school! Learn well and improve your education so we can all be cleverer and we can build and advance the world together.
