Her Majesty Queen Elizebeth R.I.P
All my life I remembered the admiration we had for Queen Elizabeth II. In our synagogues every week, we made a blessing to the Queen and the royal family.

I remember as a small child that the Queen came to Manchester to open the Jewish Museum and thousands of the community, including us, stood outside to see her, and when she appeared my father, who was a rabbi in the community, stood and and made a blessing over her. It was exciting.
For me, personally, the Queen showed her greatness. As a small child I came to a family event in London, as a family of 14 people we could not stay in the same place and so we split into two. However, before we arrived, I sent a letter to the Queen in which I wrote that it was difficult for me to split up and that I knew there were many empty rooms in the palace and enquired whether it was possible to stay there. The Queen answered me personally and said that she was sorry that she would not be in the palace so it would be closed but maybe on another occasion.
Of course, that opportunity never happened, but the fact that the Queen made time to answer a child's letter and took the time make them feel special was amazing.
Many in the kingdom are crying and saying that we lost a mother and a grandmother. The Queen was a mother and grandmother to all of us. Her attitude towards each person was exceptional and we have a lot to learn from her about how she accepted everyone, no matter who they were.
I especially remember her amazing sense of humor. Despite the difficulties she went through, she gave a lot and knew how to face those difficulties and give support to the people.
As a reporter who lives in England, and grew up in England, I feel that the loss is great. She had difficulty with her relationship to Israel, maybe because she lost a cousin in the King David hotel bombing before the establishment of the State. But her connection to the Jews was unique. When my friend Eva Neumann, a Holocaust survivor, received the Order of the British Empire from the Queen, the Queen came down to her in a wheelchair to give her the medal, spoke to her and thanked her for her actions to preserve the memory of the Holocaust.
She always maintained a warm relationship with the Chief Rabbi of England and even kept an additional kitchen in the palace for kosher observant guests.
We lost a leader who gave a lot. It is a sad week for the whole world.
R.I.P your Majesty and long live King Charles the Third.
