support the weak....

It's been a day of juggling bureaucracy, coursework and errands, as it was the Jewish holidays. I have been busy with things that have been pushed off due to those holy days.
I'm writing this en route to Old Trafford, where I'm going to watch a game so close to me: United vs Tottenham. Some of my closest friends are Spurs fans, and my nephew is a Spurs fan, so hopefully tonight I can cheer as United wins.
Some days, like today, bureaucracy can hit you without warning. Today it was a notice that my universal credit payments have been suspended, so I had to run to the Job Centre to sort it all out. Thank God, I managed to get it sorted.
I had a great conversation with my editor as I decided to base one of my coursework assignments on the Maariv newspaper. I learnt a lot of new things about the organization which I'm proud to call mine and am proud to do coursework on this organization, which is dear to me.
I also had an article commissioned and printed in The Jewish News, which is always good to get my name out there.

On the other hand, I got an email that the dream position that I applied to, "Junior Producer" at MUTV, was denied. I was really hoping at least to be shortlisted, considering I love Manchester United with all my heart.
In fact, I was eating at the succah hut of friends of my wife, Liverpool supporters, and I told them if there are Liverpool decorations in the succah, I'm leaving and going to McDonald's! A cheeseburger is more kosher than Liverpool!
I had an amazing experience on Monday night at the synagogue when I was asked to hold the Torah scroll and lead the congregation in the prayer and later was called up to the scroll for a reading. I felt that the prayer I was asked to lead was appropriate, as we asked God to support the weak.
May all people get the help they need and may we all support weak people. Amen.
