my week in Israel
I'm sorry! I've been dealing with a heavy cold and a hectic few days. I landed in Israel on Thursday morning, went straight to my hotel, slept a bit, and from there, went to university.
My teachers and fellow students were so happy to see me. Afterwards, I went to a bar to see friends and had a pleasant surprise when one of our mutual friends, Harriet, who used to work for the UN and had left Israel shortly before I did, walked in to the bar. She's been visiting Israel, it was so good to see her and catch up.
We were chatting to my friends and drinking until 3am in the morning and then I went straight to sleep.
On Friday morning, I went to volunteer at the soup kitchen and that night went for Friday night dinner at my Aunt's home together with my parents and my Uncle from Amsterdam, whom I haven't seen since my Grandfather passed away. It was amazing to catch up with him, as I tasted my Aunt's great food.
I walked back to my hotel and on the way started feeling ill. The next morning, I woke up feeling bad, I couldn't move. I languished in bed all day and just slept and rested.
On Sunday, I went to the pharmacy got medicine and painkillers and stopped by the Reform Movement to say hi and then went to the meeting that I had told you could change my life.
Are you ready for this: I met the President of Israel, The Honorable Yitzhak Herzog in a 1 on 1 meeting. It was incredible and his memory is unbelievable. He wants to see if he can help me continue to serve Israel from afar, so I hope his contacts come through.
From there, I went to university to do my exam. I hope I passed.
On my way back to hotel, I stopped by a place to have chicken soup, Grandma's cold medicine.
I slept.
The next morning, on Monday I had a event with my friend Moshe Lion, the Mayor of Jerusalem, who was so happy to see me.
It was with the Ma'ariv newspaper staff so my Editor was there too, who also was happy to see me.
We toured Jerusalem and then as I entered the hotel, my brother Yehuda called and asked me to come to his place and see his kids, so I did.
On Tuesday, I went to see my friend, Anton Delin, from Brits living in Israel, had meetings with one of my PR group, did errands at the shuk and then went to my parents. After that, I went to see my rabbi.
Today, I went to Tel Aviv and picked up my press package from the Journalist Union, then went to Ma'ariv's offices and said hello to some of my colleagues. I 'm going now to an event in memory of my grandfather and in the early morning tomorrow, is my flight back to England.
I'm sorry again that I wasn't active. My head wasn't working properly with that cold.
