update to last week
My last blog was just before Purim.
I was feeling very ill and indeed, all the Purim holiday, I was sick in bed with a very bad cold. That week, Manchester United also lost 7-0 to our bitterest rivals Liverpool, and I got an onslaught of fans from different teams mocking me and making fun of our loss! I stayed in bed till Thursday, when I felt better and ventured out to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United win against Real Betis 4-1.
That same day, I discovered the away leg in Spain was down to those with 0 European credits so decided to book a flight to gain one credit and build my credits up for future European games.
On Friday, I met up with an ex-Israeli footballer who was here with his son to show him around a bit. It was great meeting him and had a good time.
Friday night we ate at the parents of a friend of Esther's, an elderly couple who knew my grandparents and had memories and stories of them that I had never heard. We had pleasant conversation and good food and we then walked to friends of ours who had a new baby boy to wish them Mazel tov. We started to make our way home when we saw an elderly lady, our neighbour on the side of the road leaning against a wall and boys nearby her. We asked if she was alright and heard she had fallen and the boys were escorting her back home as she was feeling dizzy.
Hatzala was called, so we stayed around to see she got an all clear and we could walk her home. The Hatzala ambulance did tests on her for about a hour and decided to take her to hospital for more tests. We went home and to sleep and the following day, we went to a Bar Mitzva kiddush to wish Mazel Tov. From there, we went to close friends of this elderly lady to let them know she was in hospital.
We then went to our Rabbi for lunch, then to friends to talk, and made our way home.
On Sunday, I went to Old Trafford for a 0-0 draw against Southampton, where the referee was definatly biased. Afterwards, I took the ex-footballer and his son to see the players come out and from there took them back to their hotel where they treated me to supper.
On Monday, I stayed in bed but in the evening we got a phone call from the elderly neighbour saying she had fallen in her flat. I ran over, checked her pulse, which was fast and I decided that it was from shock, so I prepared a cup of tea for her and chatted to her. It turns out she is from Sunderland and knew my parents when they lived there. After the cup of tea, her pulse was fine, so I left her with instructions to call me if she gets dizzy. I called her son to update him and made my way back home.
In my next blog, I"ll tell all about my trip to Spain for my first Euro away.
